I used my Track-4 for the first time on a 200 mile round trip today. I was pretty disappointed to find that it only updates position when it is on a cellular network. With marketing language like “GPS Tracking with cell-trilateration fallback.” I had hoped this thing would do double duty as a vehicle recovery tool and as a way for friends/family to track while we are in the woods off grid. Instead, cell-trilateration just means position is estimated from cell towers, not that cell is the backup tracking/reporting method.
Is tracking only while on cellular typical behavior for a “GPS” tracker?
