Anyone know of a good upfitter in the Florida area? I think I'm going to send my brother to talk to them a bit and hopefully he'll get to look at a couple of builds. That might help him make some decisions.

No first hand knowledge other than noting his builds on Expo but have not seen a recent thread. Username Freshlikesushi; business site Freedonvango.com in Jacksonville. Here's 2019 thread: https://expeditionportal.com/forum/t.../#post-2713027

If a Transit might be in the cards, I’d talk with MG / Expo Vans. I know they were working on a 4x4 conversion for the Transit, so buying a stock van now and planning to convert later might work?

MG moved on from his Transit project in April.

There are some pre-owned SMB Sprinter vans to consider; some have 4WD: https://sportsmobile.com/preowned-sp...ile-texas-inc/

A. I was told Mercedes pulled Sprinters from Freightliner effective 12/31/21.
B. As implied by the responses, you'll have to shop around at a bunch of Mercedes dealers to find the desired 4x4 in stock.
C. Start looking for someone to do the conversion. Sportsmobile Austin production is currently booked solid for the next 9 months or so. I have no idea of the backlog of other custom shops.
D. Our 12 year old 2wd Sprinter does a commendable job towing 3500 lbs worth of trailer and compost. Also did fine towing a well loaded U-Haul trailer from Texas to San Jose, CA.

Give me a call. I have a new 2021 hightop diesel, 4x4, 140 Sprinter with flares and a Maxxair fan installed. It has an Infinity interior that provides both sleeping and transportation of materials (sheetrock and lumber). It has 150 miles on it and is under original Mercedes warranty. I am in CA. It is ready to go right now. Give me a call at 415.785.3757

Also, Ford sold out all 2023 Transit orders almost a month ago.

Thanks again for all the responses...

My brother has decided to lease/rent a cargo van of some sort for now so he can get going on rebuilding his house & cleaning up the mess.
