Help near Tremonton Utah....

I am back on the road.... thanks for the help.

Hello,

So I just picked up a nice 2001 E350 7.3L with 60k miles on it. Half way home from Albuquerque NM to Portland OR the van lost power. It seems to be fuel delivery related. With a new fuel filter I am thinking it may be the in tank screens pump screens.

Anyone know a place or person nearby that could lend a hand?

Thanks!
Justin

If your fuel tank is empty (less than 5g) its a one person job to drop it. Going back up is a pia but with a floor jack and some wood blocks its not that bad.

But first, what are the codes?

Well, I dropped the tank in the back parking lot of a bank. I fount the two small pre filter screens were completely pack solid with crap, not cleanable either. So I had to get a bit creative, and I now have a couple hundred more miles of happy driving.

Can you describe the crud that blocked the screen?
I'm hoping it's not the tank delamination... (sp?)

The before and after repair. I will need to do a better long term fix, but this will get me home.

Did you run some biodiesel or biodiesel blend before this happened? Biodiesel is solvent and can dislodge a liftetime if crud built-up in tank and clog screens and filters.

I've yet to see black sludge in the fuel tank, could that have been algae?
How long was the van sitting before you purchased it?
