Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

From the moment I saw these things I was hooked. I love reading these forums and planning my build. However my girlfriend just doesn't seem all that interested. Any ideas on how to spark her interest? Or is it time for a new girlfriend?

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

Probably the latter.

But seriously what doesn't she like specifically? the vehicle, price, camping?

I doubt if there's anything that can be done. People either "get it" or they don't.

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

1. Buy one anyway
2. Take her out camping, should be a little chilly at night, bust out some light furnace action, then the ice cream you hid in the Norcold freezer...
3. ???
4. Profit!

worst case, you still have the van!

I'm one of the lucky ones, my wife likes the van more than I do!

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

She feels like the van would be too cramped inside without having any personal space sort of thing. It's not like we would spend all day in there. The van would be used as a base camp for backpacking, hiking, biking, snowboarding, exploring national parks and seeing what this big world has to offer. We would be outside the majority of the time.

I was just curious if anyone has had a significant other who has grew to love these for whatever reason after not so much at first. Yes! The ice cream and warmth would definitely win her over! I'm going to buy used/build myself anyway. Just thought it would be more fun If she was involved with the build.

So my plan right now is to go ahead anyway, take her on a trip and see if she has fun. If not there's plenty of fish in the sea! A man has to have his priorities straight ya know. SMB >>>> GF

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

1) Take her tent camping in cold rainy weather
2) Take her to an RV park, with motorhomes packed in like UPS trucks at distribution center, and cranky blue hairs shaking fists from the confines of their golf carts.
Even better. Combine 1 and 2.

Then, take her on an SMB factory tour, or QuadVan, who can explain the finer points of 4x4 conversions, and will probably have an SMB in there anyways. Or even better. Find somebody with an SMB to take both of your off-roading.

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

This is not your wife. Big Difference. My wife tolerates my SMB, never an interest of hers and I did the process and all use alone. She did do one one-day overnight when I got it. She may become more interested when our elderly pet becomes no more and she is free of daily responsibility for him.

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

Show her this picture of our last tent camping (other than backpacking) episode. We both decided that after eating sand in a collapsed tent several years in a row that when we were "car camping" we were going to be more sheltered.
Backpacking we almost expect it, it's part of the experience but car camping, I wanna be comfortable.

Re: Help! She's just not interested in SMB's??

I feel it’s what each person thinks as luxury and whether or not either one of you will need it. I understand it is hard to justify the price if you’ve been frugal while doing the backpack stuff, but we all get old. At least in my world I and (my body) totally appreciate the upgrade.

You can also go with plan B:

Show her zombie apocalypse movies, then convince her an SMB will give you guys the best chance of making it through one.
