Re: Hi Lift Jack
Totally not like my Powerbuilt... except the 4" part... I carry a short bottle jack to get up off of a flat (haven't had one yet) or you can pull up onto some leveling blocks to get enough lift.
Wait til you see how much that C'man rattles and 2 tons seems woefully light duty. No cradle and no jackstand... all depending on that fine tiawanese/mexican/detroit o-ring. No matter where it was made, it is just an o-ring

Re: Hi Lift Jack
I for one am getting a little “discouraged” with all the changes made to products these days! But at least everything is made with more lead in it!

Re: Hi Lift Jack
Well this is going to be my jack setup.
I bought a PowerTeam 6 ton telescoping jack. It has a range from 8.5" to 20.5". 14 pounds. Feels like really great quality. Made in Germany. Too expensive at $283. It drives me nuts that it doesn't have a really secure "saddle" to hold the axle, but none of the jacks seem to have one.
I also bought the Napa "pro" jack stands. Made in China, but seems OK.
I will carry both.
What do you guys think?

Re: Hi Lift Jack
Looks fine, just remember if you can't get to the axle there might be problems. For me that can be a huge problem while off roading. You might want to look at a bottle jack axle cradle as well for it.

Re: Hi Lift Jack
The bottle jack axle cradle or your own version of it is a good thing to have.
You will wish you had a Hi-Lift with a Wheel Lift if you bury one or both wheels up to the axle in mud or sand, you can’t get a bottle jack under it then.

Re: Hi Lift Jack
Thanks for the tip on the Swag bottle jack axle cradle. If it works as claimed, it solves the one huge glaring problem with 99% of the bottle jacks I have looked at. I am a bit concerned on the leverage that the large cradle could put on the jack cylinder. . . But we'll see. (By the way, I ordered the cradle after 10pm, and got an email that it had shipped ten minutes later!)
As far as the Hi-Lift, I have the jack, the tire attachment, I've installed the mounts, but I just don't want to carry that beast unless I am planning a really an extreme trip.
To paraphrase the old joke, I want to know where I am going to get stuck, and I just won't go there. . .

Re: Hi Lift Jack
I don't know what they were sayin Ron but it musta been something like "wonder who the idiots were who built this fence". That said, I don't I don't know what is on top of the fence but a couple a aluminum ladders might have been just as easy. Maybe ladders are too suspicious around the border.

Pretty sure it was "hurry up, hurry up, get the drugs to your drop off point. As a bonus I will give you $1,000 more if you bring back one of those cool 4X4 vans."
