Google, 1st page, three or four down.
This is an awesome site, I'm in phase one of the research phase of SMB future ownership. Thx to all who already answered questions unasked as they formulated.

How did you hear about Sportsmobile Forum?

Just typed in sports mobile forum imagining that there would be one as I am a member of subaruoutback.org and gave it a shot.

Re: How did you hear about Sportsmobile Forum?

Kenny at Aluminess told me about the Forum. I was discussing some custom mods to the front bumper and nerf bars I ordered. He suggested I check out the forum for ideas.

Being on this forum is both a blessing and a curse. I've found a great resource for working on my van but this place is a "time vampire". It's sucking up all my time and overloading me with ideas.

When I started building my interior I had three goals to meet the needs of my White Water Rafting habit.

1-A nice place to sleep at the putin or takeout on a river trip.
2-Tons of storage with the ability to carry a sheet of plywood home from the store.
3-Durable, tough and simple enough to deal with shuttling a bunch of wet river rats.

If I had found the forum earlier in the project the list of goals would been a lot longer.

Re: How did you hear about Sportsmobile Forum?

Sportsmobile web site. We're getting very close to retirement and can't wait to get out in what was my Mom and Dad's Sportsmobile. So far we've only had time for short trips. While I'm on can anyone tell me if kids under 7 have to use car seats. We only have lap belts and our grandkids don't seem to be safe using just them with car seats, they are to prone to tip. Also is there anyway you can lay the bed down and safely strap them in if you need to travel during the late night? Thanks for the help.

Don't know what the laws are in your state. Actually don't know what state you live in either.

In CA, under 8 has to use a car seat unless they are over 4'9". Probably never going to find a safe way to use the bed while driving.

Re: How did you hear about Sportsmobile Forum?

In some states lap vs. shoulder is different with respect to a booster seat (need to raise for shoulder belt, pointless with lap only) I have shoulder, lap, lap on my bench so the nieces and nephews were out of the booster early in the van.

Also, you need to figure out what you really want to comply with: state law, kid's safety, or their mom... these can be three totally different answers at different times.

Re: How did you hear about Sportsmobile Forum?

Had been studying sportsmobile site for months, but many questions are unanswered. Finally thought to boongle "sportsmobile forum". Found sportsmobile.com by boongling "van conversion" a year or 2 back. For a decade or 2 went back and forth trying to choose between pickup with slide-in and full class B. Before that I lusted after a Westphalia edition; before that a microbus conversion; before that I had planned a panel truck converstion. Better stuff keeps coming along faster than the wherewithal.
