Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

2010 6.0 PSD EB 4x4 with 3000 miles. 35" Toyo MT's. Consistently 11.7 mpg, all conditions except off road. This trip to Utah driving 75 mph. I have a pretty ugly light bar that isn't helping but I've seen others here who have racks as well doing better than this. ??

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

On a recent trip through Nevada we got 13.5 mpg over 1720 miles.

The worst mileage for the trip was 10.8mpg on the leg across the coast range and sierras from Arcata to Susanville, CA

The next day, we got the best mileage of the trip, probably the best ever. From Susanville to Hawthorne, NV we got 16.4mpg.
We had ideal conditions: flat straight highway, downhill overall, 30mph tail wind, almost nonstop on cruise control at 55-60mph.

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

Last trip from the Bay area to the Mojave preserve we towed the Wrangler. We averaged about 10mpg with one leg giving us almost 12mpg. I consistently drive 55-60mph with or without the jeep. I've never gotten better than 12.5mpg with the V10. It is what it is.

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

On my just completed 4430 mile trip pulling a 22' trailer, I averaged 7.47 mpg on 20 tanks of gas!
Low mileage was 5.91 mpg pulling the trailer and the high pulling the trailer was 7.70 mpg.
When not pulling our trailer the high mpg was 10.58.
A lot of change $pent on gas.

This is with my 2010 V-10 gas engine.
Shifting of the stock transmission is poor. The transmission does not shift, pulling or not unless I lift off the pedal. Diesels blew me down on grades.
I need to 5 Star chip it.

Otherwise the V-10 used zero oil and is a brute of a gas motor.

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

I highly recommend the 5star. I can't say it has raised my mpg noticeably but it really makes the tranny shift smoother and at the right times. I also have the trailer tow option which dramatically improves upshift and downshift patterns and response. How much does the trailer weigh?

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

Trailer weighs 4500 lbs dry Chris.
Add gear, m/c in the van, bicycles etc and I figure apprx 13-13.5K gross combined.

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

I have a 2006 E350 with 6.0 diesel, SMB RB50 4x4 with Amsoil package. I averaged 15.8 MPG for the first 30,000 or so miles, which included freeway, city and trails miles combined. I have not tracked it since then. Tires are 305/70/16 Goodyear MTRs. Don't recall the gears off hand.

Re: how many miles per gallon do you get?

Mike,
What was your average speed? I'll bet you weren't going 70!
