M.P.G.
I just returned from my 3rd trip to Death Valley this winter. Stayed at Mesquite Springs. All driving on pavement with cruise set on 65 as much as possible. Got 14.4 mpg. I'm sure my SMB is lighter than most in this post as I don't have much options & no passengers except a 13 lb. cat.
total of 3800 miles on my '07, so maybe just getting broke in? Might get to 15mpg????

Burned through an all highway tank of gas with the cruise set at 70, and I’m glad to say that I got 12.5 mpg. This seems to be more inline w/ what I was expecting.

On my recent trip from Maine to North Carolina and back (about 4 tanks) I got 14.7 - 14.8 MPG on 2 of my tanks of diesel. The differences from my usual driving is that I 1) used Amsoil fuel additive/cleaner, 2) put the bikes inside (despite having 4 external bike mounts), and 3) had a strong wind at my back for these tankfulls.
Pretty remarkable. Thats about $50 savings over what I expected to spend on gas.

I just starting to notice that everytime we go on a trip and fill up with Super unleaded gas (the motorcycles like Super), my mpg goes up!
I use regular unleaded for the commutes..
I wonder if it's a wash between the prices of regular unleaded+mpg .vs. super unleaded+mpg!!

I discovered a similar thing with my brand 'C' pickup. Seems modern engines have a knock sensor and will retard timing to prevent knock and ping. Premium has more anti-knock additives and can take more ignition lead. More ignition lead (more advanced timing) can give more power (quicker acceleration) at the same fuel mileage or more fuel mileage at the same power (steady cruise).
I recorded 10% better mileage with premium than with regular. Currently, the price difference is 7-8% for premium, so running it is cheaper than running regular, at least for me and my brand 'C' truck.

Hi,
I have an EB-350,v10,q4x4 with a lot of options,(generator, propane furnace, water heater, etc) and weigh around 9500lb. Over the course of 30M miles I have averaged 11.8 miles/gal. That includes all types of driving, but most of the mileage is freeway( coast to coast travel) and no daily commuting except as "exercise". Most freeway trips average a little better than 12m/gal.

Just thought I would throw my results in also. Over the first 7,500 miles, we have averaged 11.90 with a best a little over 15 and the worst around 9. We drive fairly fast, 70 to 73 on the highway. I was going to post a nice chart, but couldn't figure out how to paste it in.
Finally got a decent chart in the gallery and thought I would paste it in here.

Our fuel economy over the first 4700 miles is an average of 13.6mpg
The last 6 fillups have ranged from 14mpg to 15.25mpg.
We are definitely seeing an upward trend over time.
We do not drive fast. We typically keep it to 55 mph on the hiway.

So far we have about 1700 miles on our rig and we are averaging just under 14 mpg (13.9) Included in that has been alot of mountain passes at 70mph with AC running and forest service roads. From the Scan Gauge it seems if the cruise control was set at 60 we should average about 16.
Greg, we are probably doing a little better than you but you definetly have cooler lights which probably account for the diference.

Did you keep track what grade of Gas you were using? Super versus Regular?
I seem to be getting about 10-12 with Super, used to get 9-11 with regular.
