2005 SMB 4x4 EB-50 w/full tank of fuel and loaded with 4 bikes, tools, food, bikes and camp gear…
4400# front axle
7000# rear

9 mos later, seized a rear axle bearing and ground inside rear end, pulled axle shaft out and had some serious thinning of the shaft diameter so converted to a full floating rear axle shortly thereafter. Be very careful of your weight if you’re still running a semi-floater!!Click image for larger version

That looks a lot like my van and axle back in the day. Glad you caught it before it snapped.

bebopsteve, just curious what did you replace your rear axle with? I am looking at a Sterling 10.5 full float - currently have Dana 60 semi in my 2010 SMB.

^^^ i got my 10.5 sterling from a 2005 f250. was able to find one locally with the same mileage as my van, just happen to be the right gearing (4:10), and it had a trac lok lsd. by the time i got my core charge back and sold the lsd from my semi float i was only into the rear axle about $150.00.

2001 E250 RB, GTRV Westy
One driver, full gas tank, 10 g water, roughly 50% packed for camping.

Front: 3220
Rear: 3840

That’s less than I expected.

2011 v10 Quigley wagon on 35"s, about 1/3 built out. Just under 7k. Hoping to stay under 9 so i can keep the semi-floater. We'll see.

2008 E150 (Advanced 4x4) with:

- RB41-ish Fresno SMB (gaucho), 10g h2o filled
- Fiamma F45S awning
- 265-70-17 Toyo AT3's on AR170 wheels
- double F Transit row seat installed behind passenger seat
- 4D AGM battery

Weighed with full (~30g) fuel, ~380lbs passengers upfront, 120 in 2nd row, ~150lbs gear worth of gear:

8,560 total (4100 front / 4460 rear) on CAT scale.

Kicking myself for not weighing before the conversion now, been pondering what the net effect on CG may be - 4" lift, but all the weight gain presumably down low and spare kept under.
