Re: How much headroom in a Ford PH SMB with top down and no

Note that they call it bed "O". Mine is an EB-50 (don't know what the bed is specified) but is 2 piece and runs further forward than what’s in the picture of the RB SMB shown. There is a short section between the bed and the front of the top that exposes the roof ceiling. Then there is the light which drops a few inches also as compared to the thickness of the bed which is about 4 inches. There is enough room to stow a lightweight sleeping bag unfolded on top of the bed with the top down or bed stowed. I rarely keep my bed secured to the ceiling. I just slide the main bed piece back over the rear section…an advantage of the 50 model. But yes, with the 2 piece bed, you could leave the rear section flat and have a ledge at the rear for storage by attaching the main section on the bed to the roof. You would block your path to the rear with a walk through model. A short section at the rear could be folded up to clear the path.
I have not made a measurement but I'm 6.0' and can sit in the 50 model bench seat/lower bed w/o my head contacting the upper bed as seen below.
