Insurance

My van a Chevy Express 3500 EB has arrived at Sportsmobile Texas. Do I need to insure the vehicle through my regular insurer now as a van and then change it to a RV insurer when it's completed?

Re: Insurance

That is what I did.

Can't insure it as an RV until after the conversion.

Re: Insurance

Do you need to insure previous to taking delivery?

Re: Insurance

Thanks Mike. My primary is USAA and they collaborate with Progressive. The rates I've seen so far seem pretty good.

Re: Insurance

If you haven't taken delivery and registered the van to yourself it is still property of SMB. When you take delivery then you insure it. I know some have purchased the van before conversion for sales tax reasons but if it is not yours yet why insure it.

Re: Insurance

Good point Paul on the ownership status. In our case we've taken ownership of the vehicle.
