Interview with Alan Feld

At the 2009 Overland Expo, Alan Feld spent some time talking to us about the history of Sportsmobile and gave us a guided tour of a couple very nicely built vehicles, both on the RB-50 layout, as well as a detailed tour of the Atlas II transfer case. Enjoy! You can watch the video at or subscribe to the Overland Expo netcast on iTunes.

Cheers,
Bill Green/Sagen Media

Re: Interview with Alan Feld

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed watching it. However, I was a bit surprised by Alan's remark of the 800 mile range. I wonder what I'm doing wrong

Maybe he forgot to mention the 4 five gallon Jerry tanks in the back! (Specially for our V-10)

I think all of us are wondering the same thing!

This has always been a puzzle and I'm not aware of anyone who has actually conducted a field test on the range of their tank. I often get 17mpg when cruising on the highway at 60mph. So in theory, I should be good for 782 miles on a 46gal tank. Haircut to 750 just to be safe. But my fuel light always comes on after about 550-575 miles and I always buckle under the mental stress and stop for fuel asap.
