Is it possible ?

Is it possible to put a SMB PentHouse top/bed in a trailer roof that has proper support for the weight of 2 people ? Just a thought. How long are they ? How wide ? Thinking of a custom (home made) off-road trailer, in the event we can't afford a SMB.

I'm sure it could be done but the cost, you think it would be worth it? What about something like an AT trailer or similar?

It's just an idea. A way to get the sleeping area without compromising space. I was kinda thinking of one of these: http://ravenwoodindustries.com/trailer_packages.html and then custom building it for our needs. I love the AT Teardrop, but loaded up, it is like $20,000. Would be cool if I could incorperate the SMB PentHouse.

Re: Is it possible ?

Hi,

The SMB (RB) poptop is much longer than the trailer you are considering.
Are you good at welding? Or do you know a person who can build a frame for this type of trailer?
There would be alot of metal reinforcements needed to mount a SMB poptop to that trailer.
daveb provided some great websites for trailers.
I am considering the Chaser A/T trailer. Way better than a SMB trailer.
If the price is a challenge, get a basic model and add more gear when the time is right.

Re: Is it possible ?

Pulling the roof off a popup camper might be a good solution. Unless you're cutting the nose off a van and turning it into a trailer, I wouldn't see the point of using an SMB roof.

Maybe add something like one of these?
