It seems they make that thing so nothing will hurt the engine. What's wierd is twice I've had the radiator loose water and the Ford gauge never showed a problem. My scan gauge showed a high temp but nothing shut down. Maybe it never got hot enough for any sensor to trip. I wish there was a way to override some of the sensors, especially when other add on gauges don't show a problem.
Radiator loosing water on a 6.0 is usually the EGR cooler, be careful because it dumps the water in the engine and can cause head gasket issues. You won't get a warning light.
it also happens when a screwdriver goes through the radiator, or when a hose pops off because the shop didn't tighten the clamp enough and even when a wire loom comes loose, gets wrapped up in the fan and slashes the radiator fins up
At this rate I'll never need a coolant filter...the fluid is always new.
