Bottle Jack position under twin I beam front end

Hello All,

I'm a newbie who just bought a 1994 Ford e250 SMB with a twin I beam front end. I would like to practice changing a front tire in my yard before hitting the road for my first road trip.

Any suggestions on where to position the bottle jack under this type of front end / vehicle?

Thanks Very Much,

Leland

I'm not familiar with that year, but I'd guess the framerail. I'd think the control arm mounting point maybe, or maybe even part of the front cross member? Best place to start is looking at the approved Ford jacking points, which should be listed in the manual.

I carry a 60" HiLift with wheel strap and a 20 ton bottle jack with screw top extension and a AAA road service card.

I agree with the utility of the jacks. AAA? not so much, at least in NorCal/NV. I had to drop my NorCal membership since they don't do ERS on our vans.

Stock jack actually works great! It's slow but it'll get the wheel off the ground. Even the e450s come with the same one.

I also carry a floor pump jack but it's only good on pavement. Last resort is the hi lift. Yes it's quicker and more versatile, but also more likely to cause things to go wrong.

PS jack point on the stock IFS is actually the nuns poking out the front of each I beam
