Locking fuel cap

Hopefully a simple question, but is there a difference between a locking fuel cap for a gasser or diesel? I figure with the price of diesel the way it is, I don't need anyone viewing my 46 gallons as a refueling station.

Not that I know of. But it's too cold (0 degrees F) to go out in the driveway and check the locking diesel cap that I just got last month from NAPA autoparts for the SMB. I will check tomorrow and post a response.

I want one of those billit covers that are lockable. I just can't find one for a E-350. Anybody put one on?

The Stant website lists the same cap for the 6.0 and for the 6.8 - at least for an 04. It was a little difficult to find because you can't look under E-series vans, you have to look under SuperDuty Vans!

It looks like the Stant model "ST10501" locking gas cap fits many different vehicles - from Ford F-series trucks to Jeeps to Ford Tauruses to Volkswagens. Is this the one you mean?

The Stant website directs me to ST10510, rather than the ST10501. I wonder if there's a difference, or is one or the other is a typo?

10510 is the cap I have on my van.

Before I installed it, I sanded it lightly and painted it green. Maybe someday it will prevent a serious problem.

The Stant website also doesn't seem to list the V-10 engine option at all. Perhaps it's out of date?

The 10510 is supposed to fit Ford 5.4, V-10 and 6.0 06-07 diesels. I would still prefer a locking door and put the regular cap back on.
Dave.

Geoff,

The V-10 is listed. Right below the 6.0 PSD.

Make sure you go to the bottom of the model list and select "Super Duty Van" to see the larger engines.
