Re: Looking to get a 2005 E350 Diesel to try out van life

I know it comes as a personal question but what is your budget to purchase a van? Second is how much money can you afford to put into it to make it livable?

The reality of van living is pretty hard, maintenance alone will be hard if you're traveling- finding a place to work is tough at times.
Getting the best price on parts while on the road ia very hard, a shipping address isn't always a sure thing.
Sometimes you'll have to pay a shop...

As mentioned earlier I'd never own a 6.0 unless i bought it new and immediately did the required updates to make it last.
So... i hopeyou get my point.

I suggest an extended body van and if you can get one with a high top to stand inside.

7.3 PSD from 99 to 2003 would be the best bet.
Relatively easy to work on and doesn't require very much other than being on point with maintenance.
Sure some known issues but hardly anything to run from.

Yes the Triton motors are pretty robust but can't compare in mpg. In 2005 Ford offered the 5R110 transmission, wonderful behind the V10 and im sure as well with the 5.4 too, but much harder to find that combo.
For on the road lifestyle, aim for the newest and least headache van as possible.

As for my first two questions, take your answersand triple the amount.
Lol

I'm just happy to see a 6.0 that made it to 275K miles.
