Mattress for pop top

Hey, I've just bought a 2007 Ford e-350 extended Sportsmobile conversion van. Wondering where to get the best (most comfortable, durable) fitted mattress for pop up sleeping compartment? I'm in Humboldt County, northern CA. Is there someone selling the dense foam pads that are usually found in these vans on line? Thanks

Do you get down to Sacramento often? If so, there are foam suppliers there.
Is your bed one piece or multi section?

You’ll need to make sure you have clearance for it too. I have 3 vans and only one could fit anything more than the standard pad in it. The others could only fit a 3’ long extra piece.

For my EB50, I purchased a 3 inch thick egg crate foam pad locally that just fit the dimensions of the existing mattress and still allowed the pop top to close. This pad added just enough to make the existing mattress comfortable.

I have a 2" memory foam up there which vastly improves the comfort.

I fold/double it up and store it above the front section of the penthouse bed (my RB50 penthouse bed has two halves), which has more clearance than the rear section.

Humboldt: Are you looking for the entire SMB Penthouse bed? Or an additional mattress pad to go on top of the PH bed that you have?

i use my REI sleeping pads, i deflate them when the top is closed and they live up there unless im going backpacking. Its very comfy and serves two purposes if you do any camping outside the van.

We took the old foam out of our loft leaving the upholstery in place. Then we put an REI MegaMat on top. Expensive but so worth it. My husband and I have sleep on it for a total of 15 weeks so far and no complaints. We did cut an old foam topper into strips to put alongside the rails to give us a little more elbow room.
