Message from the "I am serious about bears guy".

When in bear country, don't spray things with scented anything. Interesting odors that indicate potential food sources, are an attractant to bears.

Its a liquid concentrate of capsaicinoids so yeah it would eventually lose its potency, how long it would take is anyone's guess. I would think it would depend on surface it was applied to. If it was in a enclosed garage/outbuilding/warehouse it would likely last significantly vs on a open driveway. But if you are in a enclosed storage area, traps are likely a cheaper and more practical solution.

If it's just a drive way, I would gently spray to area that have some shelter to the elements (undercarriage, engine bay). You could probably improvise a similar compound with cayenne pepper/water since bear spray isn't exactly cheap and once you use it, its pretty much done.

Yes that is a very good point, it has the potential to attract other creatures to investigate the scent.

Again this is really situation dependent, all of our bears had trackers so we knew where they were. I wouldn't do this in an area I wasn't familiar with.

Hadn't thought about that, but have been in bear country and YES!
