Michelin LTX tire recall

I don't remember seeing any mention of this on the forum: Michelin has recalled a large number of LTX tires, many of which were OEM on E-vans. My dad just got the notice for his 2011 E150.

Details at http://www.tiresafetygroup.com/michelin ... eparation/

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

Thank you. Now I have to go check 14 tires for the DOT production sequence.

Look on the bright side: maybe you'll get 14 free new tires!

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

Thanks BrianW, but no such luck. None of our vehicles (9 Michelin LTX M/S2 and 5 Michelin LTX M/S) are in the recall. And as I have said before, these have been the best all-around (not Winter specific) tires we have ever had. My wife's Dakota has over 70K on them (and will be replaced soon with the same tire).

I have them on my SMB too, but haven't checked them yet.

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

BrianW: I think you and me and all of us SMBer's are ok. It seems that the recall is limited to one size only:

Michelin LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 115/112R LRE

Way too small for us.

Nope, that's what I have on my van. It's the OEM size. Not all SMBs are 4x4 with big tires, don't forget!

Mine are take-offs from a 2012 van.

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

Had ours replaced this summer. Had 30,000 miles on them, had them replaced no charge.

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

I bought some for 1/2 ton 4wd truck and they were dry rotted and chunks of tread coming aff at 50000 and I drive like your grandma. They gave me like 400 store credit back in 2012. Worst tires ever, we're louder than bfg at.

Re: Michelin LTX tire recall

Finally got around to checking my tires, and 3 of the 4 are subject to the recall. (I replaced one that had uneven wear with a used tire that isn't part of the recall.)

I'm wondering if Michelin will let me move up to the 245 tire instead of the 225...
