Might Be Coming back to the Fold..Sort of...Possibly

Greetings Miscreants and Ne're-do-wells!

Wife mentioned we should go back to a van. Whaaat? I blew her comments off as, well, we were in Baja and the margs were flowing (perhaps she got into some of that tainted alcohol I've been reading about). Nope, she actually misses having a van.

The Girl is a Senior and The boy is entering 9th grade. Soon, we won't have the need for a bunch of sleeping capacity (current truck camper sleeps five...comfortably).

So just starting to think about the route we may go. Kinda leaning towards a 3500 4x4 Sprinter extended body and building it out myself. Disappointed in the lack of towing capacity, but I may be buying myself a little F150, so that could handle our towing needs (just could never tow the boat or race trailer with the Sprinter, so I'm not dead set on going back to a van at this stage, but it's possible).

Anyway, it's been a while and thought I'd pop in and say "hello." What, a pic from the last Baja trip (psst, we took out a low slung power line in Baja this last trip)? Sure:

Sure, buy a Sprinter. The way you're going, you're eventually going to go through just about every camping vehicle combination out there, so you might as well go for something other than what you've already had.

Herbie! When did you move out of Utah?

Yup. Figure I've got to try just about everything at least once.

I was in SoCal (Ventura) forever, but we relocated to southern New Mexico just about 2 years ago.

Must be old age. I thought you were in Centerville or some town in S. Utah for some reason. Yesterday The Wife said no to a Sprinter. Still, I've got to downsize at some point.

How come? Still too compact compared to what you're going from or you guys looking to get back to the 7.3 days?

She said no because it will take me forever to build out (she's right). I'm thinking no because we can't pull the race trailer and buggy to Baja. All I know for sure is I'm damn tired of this single digit mpg nonsense.
