My "Beast" GTRV project: 2001 E350 longbody 7.3 diesel, V-top, bathroom/shower

Hi all, I sold my shortbody 2000 E350 GTRV V10 a few years back and picked up a new "Beast". I don't think I've ever seen another longbody GTRV, much less one with a full bathroom/shower!

It was in excellent mechanical condition and well maintained, but was due for an updated interior. Since picking it up about a year ago I've had the front seats, headliner, and side panels reupholstered in GTRV tweed style cloth, did new vinyl plank "wood" flooring myself, removed the stripes and had it color sanded and buffed, and blacked out the chrome among other upgrades. Still plan to do a 2-3" lift kit and Bilsteins at some point.

My family snagged a spot at Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree this Thanksgiving and had a blast. I've found a lot of great advice on the forum, thanks for all the help.

Looks great with the flooring and removed graphics. Thinking about doing the same to mine.

Thanks guys. Can't wait to put the lift on so I can do some yellow post camping on the logging roads around SoCal. Had fun doing that with my short body GTRV.

Very nice, I've never seen a GTRV layout like that. I assume that's the shower behind the drivers seat?

Very nice. I've always been a huge fan of GTRV's but never found one. They sell fast. There is a white one around (long body/slant top). I have seen him on Instagram. I was thinking he was on here or Expo too. His is a 50 layout though.

Thanks! Yes it's behind the drivers seat and with the top up feels surprisingly spacious. Haven't gotten a chance to actually take a shower in it yet, but the potty comes in handy travelling with a 3 year old!

Pretty clever design...it has a cutout and a shower curtain behind the drivers seat that lets you recline into the shower area so you can keep a good driving position even with the seat set to its rearmost.

Cool that another longbody exists. Most GTRVs were standard models built on E150 shortbodies with 4.6 V8s...I think you could buy these already built through dealers. But the owner/founder Roy would let customers order whatever E van suited them and build custom layouts. The build quality on both of my GTRVs was excellent compared to my Austin built SMB.
