New here, been looking for an SMB for a while now.

I'm looking at a 2004 Ford EB with a PH/bed, no propane. Anything to look (out) for? Why is the NADA value so much lower than the prices I see on these units? NADA is $10-12K less than the unit I'm looking at?!?!?

Re: New here, been looking for an SMB for a while now.

Sorry, but NADA is like an insurance company...they don't take into considertion on what is actually on the van. Most of these van are very expensive coming off the line. To expect them to drop in value by half within 6 years just doesn't happen most of the time. When you plop down 110K on a fully loaded van in 2006, most won't sell for under 80K today...at least I won't. Much comes into play: condition, is it a 4x4, and what optional features it has. But there are good deals out there and you might come across a killer deal if you keep looking...just depends on what you really want.

Good luck in your quest.

So how do you go about figuring out a fair price for one of these? Looking online at the prices being asked for helps a little but hardly accurate. I've been looking at Roadtrecks too and NADA isn't much good there either but there are more around here to look at so I feel better at estimating what I would pay for one.

Talk to Lynn at Sportsmobile West, seems they have been selling a lot of used vans lately. She is a great resource.

Re: New here, been looking for an SMB for a while now.

Well I did it, I bought this van, Ford E250, 5.4, EB51 with 45Kmi. It has been garage kept and one owner, a retired couple here in AZ. Great shape and very clean with propane delete, Starcool AC, awning, curtain and screens, sink, refrig, porta-potti, microwave, solid counter top, elec PH/bed, TV hook-up, extra cabinets in the back, trailer pkge, marine vinyl and carpet. Just went thru an inspection at the Ford dealer, fluids, 2 new tires, new battery everything checked out good. Been looking off and on for a year now and this is the cleanest, best condition, closest to what I wanted that I've found and it was right down the road from me about 10 mi. Got it for a good price too.

Looks nice and comfy. At the rate you're going at it, it'll be an even better ride with the passage of time.
