New Rig in My Garage

Thanks go all that replied to my newbee post with help and wisdom in getting a solid rig. Our deal went through today and the new rig is in my garage. Was able to bring it to a mechanic to go over the drivetrain and to an RV place to have 45 point inspection. Everything checked out and was able to get a great deal from a gracious seller who was the original owner. Our family is so excited to hit the road in this beautiful camper.

First projects are a deep cleaning inside and out, preventative maintenance replacing all the roof bolts (we are in the PNW with lots of rain), pull and refurbish on board propane tank and touch up some paint particularly where the fiberglass roof seal touches the top of the van.

I'm all ears if there is any advice for a new owner.

Nice! Congrats.

@Gooseberry used to sell penthouse T-bolts. Don't know if he still is.

Cool rig, interesting rear bumper. I love the protection but I'd be afraid of snagging limbs or something else here in the wooded east.

Well, how cool is that! And a great garage to keep it in, too. Enjoy!

May I ask what you ended up paying for it? Still doing research myself.

I would say $50k, give or take $15k either way depending on location, condition and features.

Rarely, these vehicles come available and the seller wants a quick and easy sale and sets the price in the $25k range (for 4x4, good engine, low miles). I have seen 2 and both sold within minutes of being posted.

Much more often, they come on the markets in the $70-80k range and work their way down slowly until they disappear. You can't finance them, so you have to have cash or a loan from somewhere else. Be patient and have your funds ready and you can find something.

Some people on here talk about watching for YEARS for the right one to come along at the right price.

Got it for $32k. It's an 01 e350 Quigley 4x4, v10 gas with 78k miles. In overall good condition, no body rust, surface rust on frame and chassis. Has heat and hot water and fridge 2 house batteries and converter.. Interior is .mostly original and great shape. Steel bumpers with winch up front. No rip kit no solar. Hope this helps.
