New water tank
I want to expand my onboard water capacity from the standard 10 gallon tank to 20. I want to get another plastic tank that will sit right beside the current one. The size apparently is not standard, so will need to find a custom made tank. Can anyone recommend where to get a tank made (21.6” x 9.6” x 12.5”)? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I ordered mine on eBay. The seller had a ton of sizes listed in one listing.

Hi Belize -
I replaced my tank under the bench seat early on in my ownership with a 15 gallon tank (Model B264). Just Google it and it will come up under a number of web sites.
I also recently removed my water heater that I hardly ever used and replaced with an 11 gallon water tank that is gravity fed and can also be used to fill the main tank. I learned on my trip south earlier this year that I wanted more fresh water, wanted a gravity fill option from outside the van, and simply never used my water heater. I love the extra capacity after using on my first trip in October. I only get about 10 gallons usage out of it as the gravity fill line is a horizontal line straight into the tank so I lose the top couple inches of tank use. Just had to work with the space I had.
Good luck with the project!

Phil,
Thanks for the photos and link. I agree about wanting more water, especially in the tropics. I was amazed how quickly the current 10 gallons disappears. I am currently carrying 10-1 gallon plastic jugs - easy but time consuming to refill from. I thought about just expanding the current tank, but want to have two separate tanks and isolate them. I can then track my water consumption better and know when I need to refill. I need a custom tank to fit beside the current one, a 21.6" x 14.4" x 9.6" which gives me 13 more gallons - haven't been able to find anything like that yet. I did remove the heater I had in back and thought about placing one there, but that has become a good location to store easily accessible items from the back.

Yes, but storage is a problem. All of these are too tall to fit easily under the bench in back. The one gallon container fit into a milk crate and slide right under.

Having lived on a boat for many years, I learned how to conserve water in an extreme way. I could make 10 gallons last a couple weeks, including morning coffee, (which seems to use a lot) personal clean up with a wash cloth, even dishes. I discovered that a dirty pot was easy to clean by putting a tiny amount of water in the bottom and heating it to boiling so that the steam loosened everything to the point that one paper towel cleaned it right up. Still, having more water is always good, I carry two 2.5 gallon jugs that fit nicely under the seat that supplement the 10 gallons in the installed tank. As mentioned, plastic tanks are available in a huge variety of sizes and shapes, Google is your friend.

My world was changed when I started using half gallon pump sprayers for hand and dishwashing. There is a LOT of water wasted on these two.
I've noticed the same thing about coffee. Sure does take up a lot of water.
