Re: Newb, Opinions on Used SMB

I'm in the process of "freshening up" my steering/front suspension at about 65k miles too.

Start with the basics. Check all the ball joints, link ends, etc. Steering stabilizer/s, shocks, and tires too. Fix what needs to be fixed.

Mine was fine with no wobble or steering slack. Then after my last tire rotation, it was wondering a lot more compared to before. In my case, my almost ready to replace tires are part of it. But I want to fix anything else that needs fixing before I get new tires.

Re: Newb, Opinions on Used SMB

After checking up all the parts listed above (especially the track-bar bushings!), next step is going to max caster, which I think is 5-degrees. Then, if you want still firmer steering, add a steering damper or two. I have the Safe-T-Plus spring-loaded damper. The springs give it a stronger "on-center" feel, but it's a PITA to dial in initially, compared to traditional dampers.

Looks like you got a great deal...looks like the previous owner took good care of it. Enjoy.
