Re: Nexen Roadian MT Tire - Opinions needed

looks like an exact knockoff of a bfg mud terrain...

havent used their off road tires, but the short time i had a set of regular street tires was enough time to tell me that i would never purchase a nexen tire again. i had more flat tires with that set than the 4 previous sets of tires on the same car (toyo, federal, falken, nitto) combined. it was like they went flat if you looked at them wrong. after my 5th or 6th flat tire, i put the set up for sale with well over half thier tread life. i replaced them with nittos and didnt get one flat for the full life of them. even after i corded 2 of the nittos, they still held air. keep in mind this was 10+ years ago. the company could have stepped up thier game recently.

i have yet to get a flat tire with ANY bfg tire ive ever owned (that wasnt specifically caused by my stupidity), offroad, road, or race. they arent my favorite brand by any means, and apparently lots of people on these forums have been screwed by them, but ive had better luck with that brand than any other as far as getting random flats. i stayed clear of bfg due to reports from other on this forum for my van cause im still learing about offroad tires and i gotta go with the masses until i have the money to prove to myself otherwise.

ive found over the years that name brands on tires do carry merit. im still learing with offroad tires, but it seems like the less popular brand names get flats super easy. to me, its worth the extra money spent to not have to worry about my tires.

I've had enough Chinese tires fail I would never put another on any of my vehicles. While Nexen is a Korean company, their export tires are made in Qingdao, China.

There is nothing more important in keeping a vehicle safe than its tires. That is one place I don't try to save a buck.

If you shop around local tire dealers, you can probably find some new OEM take offs for a similar price.

I agree, factory takeoffs from pickups upsizing and getting fancy rims should be inexpensive and plentiful- depending on your area of course.

Re: Nexen Roadian MT Tire - Opinions needed

I just bought a new set of 2013 Dodge 3/4 ton diesel forged aluminum wheels and Michelin tires for $300.00 - like new. They are the same lug pattern as a E350 but a different offset which can be handled with wheel spacers. Just the tires would cost over $1000.00.

Deals are out there.

Ok. I did not buy the Roadian MTs but I did buy the Roadian ATs. Lots of great reviews and I needed the tire right now due to a bulge on my drivers side rear. I did look on the Craigslist and found nothing used but since this is my daily driver I had to act now. First impressions are a very solid ride and surprisingly quiet. I will be updating from time to time as guinea pig. Thanks for your efforts to help and caution me. I take full responsibility if they are dubs.
