Nissan SMB video

Hi --

My understanding is that the Nissan Sportsmobiles are sold through Nissan dealerships, not directly by SMB. Here's the orientation video produced by SMB-West.

Re: Nissan SMB video

It's impressive that Sportsmobile uses every square inch possible for storage. I wonder where they store the extra large bag to hide the ugly of the Nissan NV?

Do these vans share powertrains with the Titans and Armadas? If so could they be made into 4wd using those components? The Nissan vans need a complete SMB 4x4 transformation. Might make them tolerable to look at.

Ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside. They should call it Shrek or Susan Boyle.

When I was at SMB West last week, Alan told me that, unless Nissan comes out with a 4WD option for these vans, they will be putting the Titan 4WD package under them...so the answer is Yes.

While it might all work and may even just bolt in but the cost for all of the parts and labor needed for the conversion will be quite high. It might make it look a little bit better though, while it still won't sit high and proud like the Fords do with that setup. Its too bad they dont look as good as the Armada and the trucks do, not that I think those are great either but they are much better than the van is. The vans proportions are very unusual. I am sure they are great and drive good and all of that, but I don't think I could ever own one just because of the way it looks.

Sportsmobile is definitely embracing them so we will need to accept them as their owners join the forum.

I think it's great they may make a 4x4 version. Maybe Aluminess, or someone, could make some good looking bumpers. Here's s lift kit for 35" tires: http://www.roughcountry.com/suspension/ ... tan_6.html

Of course Nissan guys and gals are welcome. Their rigs are probably more American than the Fords. Mine seems to be composed of parts made in Canada...

Re: Nissan SMB video

Thanks for posting GreyDawg, pretty neat video actually. Nice to see how plush SMBs newer stuff is on the inside!

Oh, I've also gotta say, I've been trying to get comfortable with the awkward look of this van since I first saw one, and it still isn't growing on me, or very many of us from what I've read, but I think a big rack on top would break up the weird body lines. I think big bumpers on the front or rear would make it worse, since the front is so long already anyway, but I think a big rack with lights would help. Maybe one of you Photoshop geniuses could mock something up?
And also, we have rented a couple of these at work, and they are huge on the inside! They seem wide enough to put 3 bucket seats across the front, just friggin wide and huge. That part I like.

Re: Nissan SMB video

I was privileged to meet Quigley's top brass test driving their Nissan 4x4 Van the middle of June where else but on Moab's "Behind the Rocks" and "Hell's Revenge". It was awesome. These are 2 trails that very few 4x4 Ford Van conversions have dared to run. Sorry but no pictures yet. I understand that the Quigley Nissan 4x4 conversion uses only Nissan components.
