Re: On board air question

My onboard twin compressor, two gallon tank Viair is slow!
25-30 minutes to go from 35psi to 70psi (4 tires). It will hardly get to 70 psi.
And that was on my 275's before I had my 295 tires!
I have a twin compressor ARB on my Nissan Frontier - seems much faster, but I'm inflating smaller tires.
For the quickest fill ups I would go CO2. Learn the rate of usage on your tank, refill before trips, and enjoy the quicker fill times.
Wish I would of...

I use a small digital scale to gauge my usage. The 10# tank weighs 14# empty and 24# full. I get about 4 full cycles per tank taking 315/75R16 tires from 30 to 65.

One downside is that the tank can't be topped off before a trip. It has to be vented to empty before refilling, so you have to buy the full 10# each time. Costs me about $22 to refill.

On the road you have to find a town big enough to have a welding supply, fire extinguisher service, or beverage distributor; and they often won't refill on the spot, they'll want you to swap bottles.

Re: On board air question

I was thinking of having a backup air supply and a smaller CO2 bottle might be a good choice. A 5# tank sounds like it will work. Thanks Bill, I never knew what size tank is needed for 315's.
