Our Family in a Vanlife Blog Post
Hopefully this is ok to share. My work recently did a blog post on vanlife that featured our family and our Sportsmobile. I thought some here on the SMB forum would enjoy checking it out.

I love your software! I used it to build a deck, design a covered porch for a friend, and I designed my finished basement using it! My basement design was far more detailed and thorough than any of the contractors that provided designs.
I would have never though to use it for a van interior design, I might have to create a design of my SMB just for fun now!

Mikerson, we never made it to AK this summer. With Covid, the border to Canada was closed unless you drove straight through to Alaska, so we opted to go next summer. We did get to enjoy a lot of local trips in the Pacific Northwest. There is a lot to discover in our own backyard!

COVID messed up all kinds of things. It forced us to get out more regularly on the weekends this spring though. It looked like you put a lot of work in on your van. Sorry to hear you didn’t get to go this year, but next year should be even better.

Ben, that's cool you have used Chief Architect. That is quite a few significant projects you have completed. Sounds like you could be a designer in your spare time!

Covid definitely messed things up. In our travels this summer we found a lot more dispersed campers out in the boondocks than we have ever seen before. I think with so many closures of established campgrounds it drove people into the woods. Unfortunately we saw a lot of trash and destruction of nature as a result. Most definitely looking forward to AK next year!

More campers:
I experienced the same in my beloved High Sierra's...
My 1st camping trip to the Sierra's 1950 ( was 6). Dads 2 week vacation. For the past 70 years (minus several serving my country) I have returned.
This year mid August I turned up Bishop Creek heading to my regular campground (4 Jefferies)...FULL....ventured to several other's FULL. Talked to a campground host.....all campgrounds from Lone Pine to Mammoth were full. I drove thru one of them and even if there were a site I would not have stayed. I could feel the disappoint my SMB was feeling.
Took off down hill to Bishop headed east on Hwy 6 to Nevada. Started to get dark pulled off and went up a dirt road. Popped the top, had a cocktail trying to make sense of what I had just experienced. Only justifiable reason was COVID-19.
Turned in contemplating the new world I was living in.
Thanks to the good "lord I woke up, brewed a cup of joe and look out SMB pop top window there were 3 wild horses munching on sage brush......every thing became right with the world......I smiled, cleaned up and headed due east deeper into Nevada.
