OVER HEAD/CARGO RACK

I would like to build a rack for my van I do not have a penthouse so I will be attaching to the gutters. What I need help with is the brackets that attach to the gutters. I have done some web serching and have found nothing. I am looking for the brackets only. any info that you guys have I would appreciate. Maybe some pics.

Search here for Awning brackets and look at Yakima products (live and on the web). There is nothing specific for the van gutters, there are just gutter attachments.

Defender Roof Rack aka Confer would be a good place to start. You can purchase off their site and or purchase at a place like 4 Wheel Parts

I saw a SMB in Santa Monica on Saturday with a rack that extended forward of his PH, couldn't catch up for a closer look but that would be interesting to see how it was attached

Racks and things on the PH are pretty easy, pretty much just bolt to the fiberglass outside the canvas... careful with those drill bits!

I'm using Yakima towers on my rack. With standard bars, they are only good for 150 lbs/pair. But, the bi problem is deflection in the bars lets the tower loosen up. My cargo basket has zero deflection, so I go well beyond teh tower's rating. I've had upwards of 1500 pounds in the basket with zero issues.

That said. If I did it again I'd use the Defender towers posted a couple posts up.

Same van, new look:

Holy overload Batman!

That's a seriously loaded roofrack, not to mention rear hitch.

Acutally, that hitch rack has a ball on it, and I had a 20' trailer with 5 rafts hooked up.

As part of the facelift, I put on a Reunel rear bumper with integrated 20,000 pound receiver rated for 6,000 pounds tongue weight.

Mmmm... ahhh... dullies... LED tail lights....

I'm not sure whether to point you to the utils thread or if you'll make us all look bad.

You ever get down to Wolf Creek and the Rogue River?
