Overnight at Walmart in penthouse top?

I'm a future SMB owner and studying pros and cons of tops. Does the penthouse top affect Walmart's hospitality re spending the night in their parking lot? Thanks for any comments. Stosh

Re: Overnight at Walmart in penthouse top?

I have stayed at three Walmarts this summer. I always go inside and ask if it's ok. Have never had a problem with the penthouse top.

Re: Overnight at Walmart in penthouse top?

The penthouse top shouldn't matter. As woodbee said, go in and ask. But that holds true for any RV.
For example in Flagstaff I was told that local law does not allow overnight camping even at the Walmart.

On a related note, I think a penthouse has some advantages, in that if you do not raise it, you can stealth camp on the street. Of course you couldn't have any lights on or make noise if you are trying to avoid detection from the fuzz.

You all may know about this group, but here's the link. They actually have a very good signal-to-noise ratio in terms of spam and good posts. I like getting the daily emails:

With the amount of free dispersed camping on USFS and state land in and around the Flagstaff, AZ area you'd have to be pretty desperate to camp in the Walmart parking lot.

Re: Overnight at Walmart in penthouse top?

i have only had 2 Walmart's tell me you could not sleep there the one in Anchorage Ak But they told me to go a cross the street to CostCo. and in Nelson Bc. but they said if you park on the edge of the lot no one would care. I agree that sleeping in Walmart is not camping but some times when your going long distance's it sure is a nice safe place to crash.

I camped on the edge of the parking lot at the Walmart in Nelson, and they still ran us out in the morning.

Another location we have not had issues with and is quiet are the parking lots of small town hospitals.

Ten-four, goodbuddy!

But really folks, is that what you bought your rig for? I don't even drive through cities. That's what I'm getting away from.
