Hi;

I know the seal that wraps around the lower edge of the fiberglass PH top is available from SMB.

What is the black looking strip at the base of the canvas where it meets the metal roof of the van called? Is it rubber or plastic? Sewn into the canvas? Attached by?

Recall I'm working on a 1982 "historic" SMB...

Well in searching another posting I found out the name for what I think I'm looking for:

"that would be the butyl seal where the tent seals against the van's roof"

Now does anyone know where I can buy the butyl seal?

I would call Sportsmobile and ask them. Chances are it is a common automotive butyl sealant available at most NAPA stores.

This was the only butyl tape that my local NAPA had in stock. $21.29
