Penthouse window and screen replacement

Anyone ever gone the full replacement route on windows and screens? Our van is now 20 years old and the windows are crazed (not a big deal) and have started to separate from the zippers in a few places (bigger deal... if the weather is cool and wet, so is the breeze through these windows).

Not as big an issue is a few screens that have gotten pretty weak with age and we keep having to sew them to patch them, doesn't look great.

The canvas of the penthouse sure looks fine to me so I don't see the need to do anything drastic, just looking into having the four windows and screens replaced, but no idea if that's cost effective and if it's feasible without taking the penthouse completely apart.

Complicating factor is I'm a long way from any Sportsmobile factory... anyone had a non Sportsmobile vendor do this kind of work?

Any tips / ideas appreciated.

Re: Penthouse window and screen replacement

i stopped by a local spa cover place here and asked if they could make me a canvas top when i was pricing out all my options for a homebuild. i showed him the ccv top and explained the window/screen setups and how it all worked and he said it would be no problem to replicate. so you might check around your area and see if theres any companies like that who could be up to the task.

not sure where you get the screen in bulk, but convertable window material can be found at any fabric warehouse in both clear and tinted.
