PH Bunk
Has anyone posted pictures of the folding PH bunk in their gallery? My rig didn't have one so I've been thinking about updating. Do they fold up out of the way, or just in half like a Westfalia? According to the SMB website. they're only $400. Seems a bit cheap for SMB. Maybe that's what it costs to ask them about it?

Re: PH Bunk
So nobody can show me what the upper bunk looks like? I've never seen one. Does it fold out of the way when not in use?

Re: PH Bunk
I'm not aware of any SMB "folding" PH beds. Mine is a two piece bed that can be removed when not being used, but the pieces are fairly large, and heavy, so I doubt you'd want to store them in the SMB. I think a few SMB's have their PH beds in three pieces for moving convenience.

Re: PH Bunk
Our PH bed is a single piece. It attaches to the top when the top is up and sits in the rails when the top is down.
I've seen a couple of 2 piece beds, and they stayed in the rails when the top was down, and when the top is up, one piece was pushed to the back and the other piece was placed on top of the first.

Re: PH Bunk
Mine is like a 1/3 piece and 2/3 piece, the 2/3 goes up with the top, the 1/3 sits on the rails, but as it's not a walk-through nothing is lost. I think it's standard "50" and the back 1/3 can be tilted on end to allow the PH windows in back to be open over the bed.

Re: PH Bunk
The only thing I can think of is how the hard tops with beds are stored...the pieces stack on top of each other.
Mines the same as Jages.

Re: PH Bunk
So this is the one piece:
and the two piece:
How about this one?
Do they both go up with the top? Can the two piece be pushed back, folding the rear 1/3 up against the back tent wall? I'd like to use the 2/3 part as a storage shelf when the PH is up and it's not being used as a bed.
Looks like the two piece is the later design?
Thanks

Re: PH Bunk
What do you have Tom? That's just the 1/3 piece tilted up against the back. With the 50 the only time you really need to do that is when you're sleeping in the back and you need head room. But with a walk through I would think you would have to do that every time to walk through (provided you have the 2/3-1/3 bed). The 1/3 section allows me to stow stuff on top at night if I bunk below. I can also flip that up and push the main portion back to give me some room up front w/o having to hang the bed.
