PH crack

I have a bigger-than-hairline crack from the high mount brake light opening, goes out about an inch or two.

Any tips on sealing it? I am mainly worried about water intrustion.

The only thing I could find is:

Re: PH crack

Not sure if it offers any help, but here's a recent discussion on a PH crack.

Re: PH crack

If it is from the 3rd brakelight you don't have to worry about water intrusion - unless the crack goes up and gets into the wood in the top.

Any water coming through the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light) is outside of the penthouse waterproof sidewalls.

Usually cracks start at a notch or cut. Pull the CHMSL out and inspect the opening. Make sure the crack goes all the way through the fiberglass, not just in the outer gelcoat.

You may even find the cutout tight at one point. A tight fit will add stress to the top and may cause a crack to start. If the cutout is tight, open it up so the light fits freely.

If you can't find a cause for the crack, you can still stop it by drilling a small hole at the end of the crack. Then I would get some cyanocrylate adhesive (super glue) and fill the crack and let the glue lock the fiberglass in place.
