Pinched Penhouse Fabric

I recently bought a sportsmobile with a pop top and have noticed that occasionally when I pull the top down it pinches the canvas... Any tips for stopping this from happening?

My theory is that it's only happening when it's a bit windy but I'm not really sure on that yet. When I pull the top down typically I only have the side door open, maybe I need to also open the back door? Anyway just wondering if this is common or if I'm just making some stupid mistake...

Thank you!

Do you have bungee cord around the canvas? I believe it helps keep the canvas pulled in when lowering.

I only open the side door when raising and lowering the top.

See this photo.

I have the bunjee's, almost like I need one right down the middle. Might mock one up and see if it helps at all.

Top and bottom?

Are they as tight as shown? Sure they get stretched out over time.

If you have two and they aren’t stretched out, maybe another would help.

Can you tell what part of the canvas is pinched? Might help in determining why. Piece of tape should help if needed.

When closing about half way just make sure the corners are folded

Do you have a fan? When losing the top I turn my Maxxair on full blast, air "out", and close all the doors and windows. This sucks the canvas inwards quite nicely. I came up with this on my first trip in a rented van years ago, but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere on this forum as well.

Sidebar question, but related: Do people leave the window covering rolled up or hanging down when closing the top, have you found the canvas more or less likely to "pinch" either way?
Thanks

We usually have the curtains rolled up when lowering the top

When lowering, we usually have the curtains rolled down 100%. I've found that rolling things up bunches the material too much in one place and leads to more pinching... Do what the others state and tighten the bungees.
Always be careful in higher winds to lower slowly, stopping with just a gap, and pulling as much of the material inward as you can.

I leave the curtains rolled up the windows zipped shut and the penthouse bunk bed down.
I found it's the bed that likes to pinch the fabric onto the angle iron.
