Pop Top Isn't Closing Properly
Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has a suggestion to help make my pop top close. After my weekend trip I found that one corner of the pop top isn't sealing down to the van roof. Three corners are fine but the fourth is about 1/2 an inch above the roof.
I tried putting it up and down a couple of times but that didn't help.
Just wondering if anyone has had this happen and what's an option for getting the alignment back.
Thanks for any help
Jon

After trying to close it again I applied a little brute force to the one corner while closing the top and it sealed properly. Not sure why happened to make it close unevenly but problem solved.

Sounds like you may have left something on the inside ledge which kept it up in that corner, or maybe the rear platform bed section wasn't entirely in its track on that side?
The lift mechanism sometimes gets askew and the two sides don't raise & lower evenly...I recall reading (somewhere on this Forum) if this happens you can adjust by raising completely & lowering completely 5 times in a row to "reset" it. Admittedly I'm unable to confirm this since I've not had the need to test it myself.

Were you on level ground when these issues occurred?

Twoxentrix: Thanks for the open and close info to reset the mechanism. That's good to know. There wasn't anything obvious that was caught/stuck inside the area.
gahamby: yeah is was pretty level when I first closed it. I reset on the road, so it was slightly cambered at that point but closed properly.
Probably just a hitch in the mechanism when I put the top up originally or some other glitch.

Regardless, a good time to check the pivot bots between the two crossbars. There is a history of those pivot bolts bending, and/or sheering.

Thanks for pointing those out. They seem fine but I see some posts about folks replacing them. That seems like a bear dealing with the springs...though making a stronger joint at the cross point is a good idea.

Sounds like you have a manual lift top? I have an electric and notice my top sometimes does not center side to side and if it comes down offset, I need to lift it slightly and pull the top into place so it sits down even.
