Portable Air Compressors - which ones really work?
Since I can't carry the one in my garage around I need to get a 110v (my invertor should power that) or 12v but they all look wimpy.
It would be good to have one that could inflate 60 psi without taking 3 hours.
Regards,
Keith

Our Extreme Air works well...not as good as a shop compressor. It probably takes around 30 minutes or so to air four 285s from 35 psi to 55 psi. Ours is mounted under the van on the frame which means that it doesn't take up storage space. You can check it out tomorrow since we'll be there...

Compressor comparison
The latest (Spring 08) Overland Journal has a comparison of 6 high end versions. If you have higher end $$$ tastes, it may be a good read.
They ranged from $300 - $675.
Like Joe, I am getting the Costco version as well. I have the baby brother for my motorcycle and it meets my more limited needs.

BC,
Ours is in the camping section, not auto.
I agree, I don't see them on the web page.

I am using the Viair 400P. It works great and it was one of the least expensive out of the "higher end" portal compressors. I've used it many times without any problems. The only downside to this, and I have a feeling it is true for all portables is that it gets very hot after airing up 4 tires. You need to let it cool down before you can put it away.

Greetings,
I just bought a great portable air compressor from Pep Boys.
See the link below,
http://www.gearinstalls.com/pepboys.htm
For $59.00 it is worth it!

I found ours in the auto section of costco. It was 39 bucks and I tested my tires and it works great.
