Re: Previous SMB owner, 2nd question

I looked into the Espar gasoline cabin heater. It must be mounted under the floor, it can't be mounted inside the cabin for safety reasons. I would assume the water heater would be the same.

The flat plate options sound like there would be a lot of water piping that would need to be either drained or freeze protected in cold weather.

Well now I don't feel so bad. Maybe SMB did say something about the diesel cooktop because at that price I would have put it out of my mind.

Now that I see I've saved 3,500 dollars, what should I buy for my van?

How about a Bulletproof EGR and Oil cooler? That ought to take all of it.

Re: Previous SMB owner, 2nd question

Yep, it's on the list but I think I'll go for the upgraded EGR first.

In reality, if I were doing a van over and a diesel engine was an option, I'd probably still go with Espar products but I don't mind the small propane tank and cooktop. I probably should have even installed a smaller tank. So far the tank has lasted a long time and for the price difference it seems to have been a good choice.
I just used the Airtronic for the first time since about March and it did fail during the first start but ran great all night on the second start.
I had a lot of problems with the Hydronic at first but some of it was user error. Ever since I started to run cetane booster in the fuel both systems have worked fine.

This. It's annoying to get back from a three week trip and find there is no reason to fill the propane!
