Racks on the pop top

Hi Folks,
So I want to put a roof rack on my SMB pop top, but I am concerned about having the weight on the pop top. The rack would weigh around 70 lbs and I wanted to know if that would put too much strain on the op top being able to be raised. Anyone have any insight into this?

Couple resent threads on this, probably able to pull up several if you use the search function, but here is one:

Lots of folks have racks on the roof......Aluminess is popular because it's aluminum....

You will likely need to adjust the penthouse springs to compensate for the additional weight.

Where are you located? Perhaps add location to your profile.

If you are in So Cal I can refer you to a really excellent fabricator. Some pics of two aluminum racks he has built:

This was helpful. I am going to look into upgrading the shoulder bolts and springs, because even though it should handle over 200 lbs, it does put strain on the lift. Upgrading the springs myself looks like a non trivial project, but there seem to be some good tutorials out there.

I have a fabricator already working on the project, but I appreciate the offer. That roof rack does look awesome.
