Renting your van?

Do you or have you rented your van? If so, what site(s) do you use?

I've seen Outdoorsy, RVShare, etc. and was curious what type of experience people have renting on them.

I run a small group of vans on outdoorsy. Experience has been pretty good. Started with a 93 SMB and added a 98, 2006, 2001 coachman and now have 3 transits. You will be dismayed by the wear and tear and damage that the van takes over time. Our vans run about 20,000 miles a year, so they get used a lot. You need to be able to divorce yourself from the small wear items. Also, you need a good mechanic as well as a body guy and an RV systems place. Problem is: van will come back with something broken and the RV place is booked out 3 weeks and you have someone else picking it up this weekend. So it's a lot more work that I originally though and everyone treats it like a rental car. They aren't deliberately abusing it, but they aren't caring for it the way you do.

Good luck out there!

H Gramps...you just showed your hand...lolol...NO WONDER you KNOW so much about vans/SMB/troubleshooting!!! I am glad someone is out there willing to do that...speaking of "divorcing yourself" is why I just couldn't rent Sporty out...I'd be worse than a parent of a child past curfew...worrying and knowing (both) that somebody is out using it, stress USING it...

It really helps that I started with a van and planned to rent it out. I could never do it with a "personal" van. Especially with the 5% of renters who are total animals.
