Replace Norcold DE-451 with NR751BB, Review?

I have a 2001 Ford E250 with SMB floor plan RB-50



It still has the original refrigerator 1.9 cubic ft. Norcold DE-451 dual-voltage (120 AC/12/24-volt DC) electric refrigerator.

I am considering replacing it with 3.0 cubic ft. Norcold NR751BB dual-voltage (120 AC/12/24-volt DC) electric refrigerator.

Any concerns before I consider buying?

Thinking you would loose the drawer above the existing fridge in order to fit?

The NR751 should be the exact replacement dimensions as DE451. The 751 has the Danfoss compressor which is more efficient and quieter. Both models are 20-1/2” tall The 751 is 18 -7/16 wide, 451 is 18-1/2 wide I think the 451 is 1/16 deeper.

Bigger? Ours is 4.3 cu ft and still fits under the countertop. A large, even oversize, fridge is a great use of space.

Nova Kool R4500. Of course, you would lose room for the drawer above the fridge, ie, the fridge would extend all the way up to the countertop.

I may be in the minority but I wouldn't really agree with this. A larger refrigerator takes more space and more battery power. For example, our smaller original SMB refrigerator holds at least 12-16 cans of pop and beer along with our food. We can only drink a few cans per day. It takes me 30 seconds to replace a few cans every evening and they cool down fast. This saves battery capacity and I don't have to listen to the refrigerator running as much at night.

It seems logical that bigger is better but do I really need to cool down 4-6 days worth of beverages in my RV or is 2-3 days enough if I take a few seconds to refill every evening. Just sayin.

Replaced original RB50 NorCold DE-451 with NorCold NR751.
Reasons for choice:
Same installment dimensions.
Larger interior cubic feet: from 1.9 to 3.0.

Safari Condo, a Canadian pop top van converter, has kind of an interesting idea: they install two smaller fridges under counter. If you need the extra fridge space, turn on the second one. If not, just use it as regular cabinet space. Apart from the cost of a second frig I like the idea.

I did the same move a couple of years back. The new Norcold seems to run a lot more than the other one did... curious to see how it works for you.
