Roof Rack Cross Bars Recommendation

Hello All,
Getting ready for a trip to Salt Lake City.
Have been thinking about adding a roof mounted cargo box.
Something like a Thule or Yakima.

My thoughts were to get some gutter mounted roof rack cross bars and mount the box to them.

I have an 2012 RB style van.
I do not have a roof rack at this time.
The thinking is that we could put golf clubs and some prospecting gear in the box.

Anyway, if someone has some recommendations for decent gutter mounted cross bars that would be great. And if 2 or 3 is needed.

Br,
John

Try - "1der" for gutter mounted brackets - then add rails as required or needed. Amazon has some aluminum bars I've seen - used for racks.

Regarding how many crossbars:
You can take 25kg/ 50lbs per crossbar into account. That’s a good number in terms of max load thinking about a crash situation.
A friend designed crossbars for OEMs for 25 years, was also designing those on the Model 3 and Y.

And from there you can think about thickness/ design and so on.

I decided for 6x 45x45 crossbars as I plan to mount a floor and perhaps sit on it one day. Therefore the bending was relevant for me and with 160cm width I can stand on one bar with 180lbs and ~1/2” bending.

I purchased bars from Leonard truck accessories.
Very high quality. No fitment issues.
Really strurdy. I think the 3 bar system supports like 750 lbs. Decent price (my opinion)
They are VanTech H3 series.
Highly recommend.
I can also mount my ARB awning on the end of yhe bars as they are threaded.
Thanks for all the input
