Airfoils can also be made from PVC file folders and gorilla tape

You might be surprised what gets glued, taped, bolted on vehicles during testing. Aerodynamics sometimes is very counter intuitive.

but it's not what rockets are built for.

I've got to do something on mine.. Recently added antenna platform whistles a bit.. The solar panels may well have whistled too, but they're far enough back.

Thinking some people swear by the rope trick, which I can't do, I tried some little rubber nibs to break up the wind, it did nothing. Next step is a fairing of some sort, either make my own or something like this one:

Isn't your van a diesel? And you actually still hear roof rack noise?

On mine, it sounds like the wind is turbulent between the rack and the roof (my rack has a solid aluminum plate floor). Would air foils on the roof help with that?

I would try spiral wrapping a cord on the forward most crossbar.

The issue for the OP is the noise created by the LED light bar. Here's a few solutions from the Jeep guys. 5 dollar 50" led light bar whistle fix - Jeep Wrangler Forum
