Running Lights Always Flash

On my '10 van, my running lights flash on & off, delayed off etc whenever I lock doors, unlock doors, run accessory position on ignition and then turn off.
FOB or with the key.
I cannot enter or exit my van without running lights flashing.
Not stealth or discreet in campgrounds at night.

Is there a bypass for this?
Check/uncheck maybe when diagnostics is hooked up?...

Thanks for any info.

Re: Running Lights Always Flash

I did some research into this and came up with nothing good (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5183&hilit=illuminated+entry). In older van models and other Ford models there appears to be a procedure you can follow that disables the illuminated entry feature, but it doesn't work on the 2010 van. I asked my local dealer about the possibility of having them disable this and they looked at me like I was speaking Swahili. Natumaini bahati yako ni bora kuliko wangu.

Not sure I completely understand, but the keyfob receiver is a separate unit, so if it's just when you lock and unlock from the keyfob that's the problem, then find the unit and snip the wire that runs to the parking lights. Just like you would to disable this feature on an aftermarket alarm system.

The keyfob sends a signal to the Vehicle Security Module. It sends signals out to various other modules, but it looks like the signal that unlocks the doors is also the same signal that flashes the lights and horn.

Re: Running Lights Always Flash

I've got the same complaint for my Ford 2010 and my dealer service said the only thing they can do is change the timer delay, but I think it was already a short as it could be.

We should all write in to Ford for a fix, or at least a redesign on future models.

Not related, but I'm currently working on a theory that the starter battery uses less juice while parked if I turn all switches off before turning the ignition off (e.g., stereo and HVAC). Can anyone confirm this?

My first thought is how would you determine that? In any significant amount of time to see a voltage drop, conditions should change enough to alter the test. I guess if you went straight from the battery cable with an ammeter, you might be able to see variations back and forth.

That said, consider that it might be the time you spend turning electronics off after parking that is the difference, not the actual switches being on or off.

Interested to hear what you find.

Do you exit through the driver's door? I think the accessory circuit stays on for 15 minutes until you open the driver's door.
