Can you add the keyless entry / alarm aftermarket?

can you add the keyless entry to an older ('04) van? I really like the flexibility of not losing my keys.. ie when surfing

Joe,

My SMB is currently being built and we are have the keyless entry installed. It is installed by a car adio shop that SMB West works with. If you call over there I am sure they will give you the number of the shop that actually does the work. You might also shop around with the local car audio shops to see what they can do. If I remember correctly the alarm system, key pad and and ignition iterrupt is costing about $800.

SMBw typically works with Integrated Audio Solutions, which is owned by Rob Radonovich, which is quite easy to work with. His contact number is below.

IA.Solutions@yahoo.com
(559) 281-5500

That said, if he's not reasonably local to you, a good local-to-you car audio shop should also be able to do the job.

I just purchase of of ebay a Ford Keyless Keypad. Ford use to sell these as a accessory. I am not sure why they stopped. Anyhow out of the blue I searched ebay last week and found some. I programmed it today and everything works fine. My SMB is a 2004, it looks like they work on newer vehicles also.

The late model Ford ones are wireless.. not 100% sure.
On Ebay there were all Ford wireless ones mostly. No Holes to drill.

For older vans, I found this one:

Since we mcGuyvered the power unlock/lock to a wireless remote and hooked the oem Ford side power mirrors (stock van only had power windows and locks, no remote) by finding the Ford Mirror Joystick/Power Lock Switches on Ebay..

We used a F-250 switch similar to this:

They Keypad is wireless, and attaches with a supplied tape on the back. You can mount it any were that is flat. It comes with a black bezel and a primed bezel if you wanted to paint it. This use to be a$100.00+ accessory from Ford. Again I have no idea why they discontinued them.

Remote Keypad

I just bought one on Ebay (for $23 + $6 shipping from some guy in Puerto Rico),
and I love it! Here's my alternate location:

The black keypad is pretty discreet in the black rear license plate area.
The keypad itself is stick-on, and comes with programming instructions.

Now I don't have to find my keys every time I need something out of
the van. And I won't get locked out.
