Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB

SMB West gave me the name of an agent, Justin Gennock.

JUSTIN CHRISTOPHER GENNOCK 702 SEAGIRT CT
SAN DIEGO, CA 92109-0526
Phone Number: (559) 577-4704 Email: justin@gennockinsurance.com Website: www.gennockinsurance.com Agent #: 151767

He got me coverage through Safeco. Was about the same as my current CSAA BUT has some extra coverage and it's RV for the SMB. CSAA didn't have that, and as I noted it might have made a difference if I had a claim for a totalled van.

Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB

Make sure Justin is licensed in your state. (I don't recall where the OP is from.) I spent a lot of time working with him, only to learn he wasn't licensed here and then more time as he said he was going to get a license but never did. Kinda got me in a bind, timewise, with my delivery pending.

OTOH, he seem like a nice enough guy and gave me good info before I gave up on him.

Yep, ANPAC Chrome. Agreed value... nothing else will do for me

Will they cover off road totals or damage?

I imagine so, although I'm still awaiting the documents. They'd have to put something in the exclusions, like they do with speed contests, use for work, etc. I've never seen that in a policy. Auto rental companies, by comparison, often do limit coverage for unauthorized use of their vehicles, which commonly includes gravel roads. And some will deny coverage altogether, as Good Sam does if you have a modified suspension, which a 4x4 SMB has according to them.

I'll be checking the policy documents. I can't look at my current ones because I misplaced them, and my previous insurer, AAA, doesn't put them on line. Yet another reason I'm leaving them.

The folks who wanna SELL you the insurance aren't the ones you're gonna deal with when it comes time to make a claim; so you're right to question this.

Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB

When I question Good Sam about the 4x4 issue, I asked if that the denial clause referred to factory 4x4 and they said no. So I asked if my vehicle came from the conversion company with 4x4 wouldn't it be the same as it would if it came from Ford that way? Supposedly if the conversion was done by the company of record (SMB) then they will cover it. Do I believe them? Not sure.

I was told the very same thing at their corporate level on two different occasions after reading about the revelations of others on the Forum , and like Dave I am never sure that I am reading or receiving
the whole truth !

Everyone should look at the ANPAC Chrome coverage... Agreed Value is the only way to go with all the aftermarket and homebuild stuff that forum folks add. Gnarvan's $3k HID light package, 86Scotty's front-to-back homebuild/CCV top, Jage's 11,000 lbs of dirty diapers... ALL covered!

But what would say 100K bucks worth of coverage cost per year for an off/on road vehicle?
That's the 100,000 dollar question

Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB

Well, I put both our veeks on the policy (AV on the van only), and my coverage on the van increased from $17,500 max (Good Sam/GMAC) to $60,000 on ANPAC for a cost increase of ~$200 per semester/~$400 per year. Same roster of Good Sam perks... offroad towing, fuel/tire/jump service etc. Waitin' on the paperwork, start date 5-15.
