Sexism and Sportsmobiles

Hi there,
Sorry, I didn’t catch your name, but I never had a problem when buying mine. I’m pretty shocked to hear it as well.
Mine is not yet up for sale, but likely will be within a year. I have a 2005 Chevy Express EB with a high top,
kitchen, water, and small bathroom. Very low mileage
at under 75k miles. New tires, new batts, when I’m allowed out to get them.....and solar panels that are not yet installed, for the same reason. It has the Gaucho-type bed, and will have a swivel on at least
one front seat when finished. Unfortunately, I am in Colorado, so that’s a long way to go, but I had to pick
mine up in Las Vegas originally.
It took me 4 years to find mine, so I really hope you don’t give up! These are great vans, and equally great
vehicles, and I could live in mine if it became necessary. At one time it was in the photo album on this website, but I have no idea whether it’s still there
or not???
I wish you very good luck in your search. Sometimes
it takes a while, and you might have to “ settle” for either less or more than you had in mind to start with!
I suspect that many vans are now being used to live
in for a whole lot of people....which makes them less
available for campers.
By the way, I ran into zero sexism in my search, and I’m a female! I think you just got a “ jerk”!
Happy( er) hunting,
ConnieKat

[QUOTE=PNWschusser;275675]No, he knew I was serious. And I was about to bring a cashier's check

$5000 and a cashiers check? Just scream "I am a scammer!"
Read about scams on craigslist for a quick lesson.
I would have hung up on you too, cashiers checks are worthless.
Cash or a bank transfer for a large transaction, nothing else is safe.
I occasionally take Postal money orders for things valued a few hundred dollars on a hobbyist site with limited access. Those and only those can be somewhat verified by the post office. But any cashiers check can be forged well enough that your bank will take it - then a few weeks later it bounces and your bank takes the money back.

Hmmm good point and I have gotten ‘cashiers check’ offers as well at which point I end the convo. In this day, an EFT Is the way to pay under the (legit) circumstances. Is the OP even legit

PNW,
My 1st reaction to your experience would be to call SMB asap if in fact they were the agent offering the vehicle.
My friend just bought a Sprinter here in SoCal and the seller brought it to his home to look at it....I think it was also on the SMB site. He made an offer for less that listed and the seller accepted. There are all kinds out there.
I'm with carringb your +$5,000 is a BIG red flag to me. Something is missing here.
Also he is spot on....this is a road trip summer and van's are hot........I just did a 24 hour loop in southern Sierras and passed at least 12/15 Sprinters Vans.
If you limit yourself to low mileage, 50 layout etc, etc your looking at a very limited playing field.
The very best to you. Let go and move on.
2003 E350, 4X4, 7.3 SMB High Mileage (I use mine).

As to sexism on wheels: ask how many guys have talked their way out of a traffic ticket vs. how many women have. To be wise, see both sided, not solely your own.

Local cash in hand and closure work for a lot of people. Wasn't meant to be
