Should I buy this SMB and U-Joint it?

99.9% of the E series had the 2 valve motor.
We always get jipped!
But have no fear, the 2 valve has Plenty of power. Mated with the 5R110 in 2005+ was a great combination.

That van is overpriced. If you can get that van for $15-$17k go for it. I've seen equally nice vans go for that price. Certain members here have bought 4x4 vans like that for $20k. Check back with the seller in mid-January or February and see what his asking price is.

7.3PSD at least the ones I know of have the 4R100 transmission.

But a 5.4 with some mods will be ok, honestly I'd aim for the 7.3 or 6.8 with the 5R110 because if the need arises in the future for heavier loads or towing you won't even blink.

Doh! You're right, man, my apologies. I meant to type EARLY 7.3s. I guess the 4r100 came out in the late 90's, correct?

And if you're worried about power, why 305 tires? That's a wider tire, requiring more power and adding more weight and drag. Have you considered a 285?
Little things like that could make a big difference.

Otherwise, I think the 5.4 should have enough power. After all they've been using them in SMB's for years.
You can always add power mods.
